"Crispin"

"Crispin"
15.1 Hand Black-Bay Gelding
Foal of 2010

February 5, 2012

Our little Crispy reminds us how nice it is to be care-free!  He spends his days turned out with his giant friend Newman and his trusty sidekick, Strey, playing "Cones" and "Feed Tubs" in the field.  He's out with "The Community," our mixed group of lesson horses, personal horses, and retirees, at night.  He fits in well with both herds, enjoys the company of both mares and geldings with no particular interest towards either, and is always the first to come to say hello to any visitor in his field.

We've done a little lunging and round pen work with him just to keep his skills up, and he's always up for the change in scenery.  He's a great young man to work with and enjoys attention, no matter the reason.

Crispin is a wonderful prospect for anyone looking to take on a training project.  He's easy and uncomplicated, kind, and willing.  What more could anyone ask for!

Meet Crisipn, an adorable two year old gelding by Gaff out of Mia Cat, by Thunder Cat.  Crispin had a brief try at being a race horse, but was no-saled (he didn't bring in enough money) at the August yearling sale at Ocala Breeder's Sale, so went to training for a little while instead.  He apparently didn't have what it took for his connections to continue with his training, so he ended up on "The Truck."

Crispin is right at 15 hands now, and has already grown close to two inches since he arrived at A Pinch of Luck last month.  He's sure to reach at least 16 hands, and already has nice bone and good feet.  He's easy to work with and fun to be around--he was a star for the farrier, loves to be groomed, and is happy to wear a blanket when the weather makes it necessary.  We generally don't have babies at the farm, but if they were all like him, I'm sure we'd happily have more!!

He is one personable, happy go lucky young man, and is sure to grow into a tremendous adult in the hands of his new very own person.  He has reportedly had forty five days of training, and when his old people stopped on him, had been jogging and cantering on the track.  Not here at our farm--he's been to the round pen a few times to help him remember some of his lessons, but he'll enjoy time to grow up and mature before he goes into any work... and that's if he's here long enough!

Come and meet this adorable little wooly-booger in person!!  He's won all our hearts already!
