A Happy Life

A Happy Life
16.1 Hand Chestnut Gelding
Foal of 2005
Sold!!

Happy is with us because we (as in Faye, April, Tammy, and I) all decided that it was time for Happy to have a chance to live up to his name.

Happy was owned and trained by a gentleman who trains his horses on the farm--and uses his truck as a pony horse to do his conditioning work.  Happy used to go out for his daily training behind the bumper of a pick up truck.  It may have made him fit, but it didn't make him a winner--he's had a lot of starts, but never did better than second.

This sweet, happy gelding is a love bug who just wants a pocket to pick and a kind hand to rub his face.  He loves attention, and seems no worse for wear after his racing career.  We haven't started him under saddle yet (though it's coming soon--he's starting to tell us this standing around all the time program is for the birds), but like what we see in the field.

Happy retired sound with clean legs. He is easy to work around, appreciates any form of attention, and does well when turned out with his buddies.  He LOVES to eat and is happy to take hand outs of any form.  He reminds us of a smaller version of my best horse buddy, First Exchange, and it's this "mini-me" likeness that won us over at the track.

December 8, 2010:

Happy has found his family!!!  Lauren, with parents Tony and Brooke, visited us at A Pinch of Luck the weekend before Thanksgiving and decided that Happy wanted to come home with them.  And then the waiting began...

Bringing Happy home required his new family to make a second trip to our farm in Woodstock, and that second trip was two whole weekends after their first.  Poor Lauren!  She had to wait and wait for her Prince Charming to come home with her, but it seems as though it was well worth it!
