Because a Bonnie
16.3 Hand Liver Chestnut Mare
Foal of 2003
Bonnie is a stunningly beautiful liver chestnut mare with a flaxen mane and tail. Her mane is so pretty that I, lover of pulled and tidy manes, am having a terrible time even contemplating shortening it--it's THAT beautiful!!
She's spent the last three years as a member of a large commercial broodmare herd, but because she failed to get in foal in 2009 or on her first cover this year, she was culled from the herd due to non-productivity and sent down a slippery slope that would have resulted in her ending up at a killer sale in Tennessee. Fortunately, fate brought her to us, and not only is she now safe, she's on her way towards a new career.
At the moment, she's working very hard to relax and recover mentally from the stress of riding packed like a sardine in a trailer and shuttling all over from Florida to Tennessee. We are thrilled to have her and can't wait to meet the "real" Bonnie when she realizes that she's not going anywhere scary any more.
Please check back in the next several days for photos. Her header photo was taken on our first sunny day in ages and was taken on a cell phone.
