Bob's Big Hope
16.3 Hand Bay Gelding
Foal of 2003
Bob's Big Hope joins us from Fingerlakes Race Track, and is from the same connections as Foothill and My Mom's Sugar Halo. According to a contact at the track, he was the 2009 Claimer of the Year in 2009. We're working on verifying the exact details of his accomplishment from his trainer, and will update accordingly if we find out more.
Bob raced successfully, but has earned a retirement for sure. He's retired sound, and other than needing a vacation to just let down and relax for a while, he's ready to go to work. His legs are clean, he has nice feet, and for sure, he is a big, solid horse. We can't wait to see him filled in and in a sleek, shiny summer coat.
Bob is well behaved for grooming, is tidy in his stall (though he does seem to like "swimmming" in his water buckets!), and has no vices. He is a peppermint hound, and in only two days, already knows my car and is nickering for his treats before I even walk into the barn.

Well we thought Bob might need a break.. Nope! Boredom in retirement is never a good thing, and Bob told us that he wanted to go back to having a job. He LOVES to work. He's easy to ride and easy to handle and has very quickly become favorite of Katie, one of my students who is home from college for the holidays. She's been on him just about every day that the weather has permitted and just loves this amazing horse.
Bob is good for everything... His only fault is that he loves to swim--in his water buckets! We've decided that a little water never hurt anything, and if that's his "bad behavior" then we'll take it! He was great for the farrier, gets along well with everyone, and is great to have around the barn. And did we tell you he loves to have a job??? He's great with work every day or every whenever someone has time. Perfect for any task, Bob is just one cool character!
