Razen is the most uniquely colored horse that we've ever had here at A Pinch of Luck.  You can read more about his color on this site:  http://www.brindlehorses.com/brindlehos/index.htm#help and by searching for "brindle horse" on Google.  Razen exhibits not only brindle coloring, but also a strong rabicano coat pattern that is highlighted by a very distinctive "skunk tail"--his black tail has a healthy shock of white hairs on either side of his dock.

Razen raced successfully, and even retired as a winner, but was unfortunately not graced with the world's greatest conformation.  Because of this (and some mostly cosmetic scarring from a youthful pasture accident), he is most suited to life as a pleasure and companion horse.  He's sound for riding--he raced after all--but is not an ideal candidate for someone looking for a high mocus performance horse.

We can tell you for sure that there aren't many horses as sweet as he is.  He adores attention, and loves to press his head against any willing human so that he can have his head rubbed and ears scratched.

We plan on starting him under saddle by the end of the first week in October.  He has already had several rides while still in New York, and has shown himself to be just as much of a love under saddle as he is on the ground.  He will be great for a rider of just about any level in no time!!

Update October 16, 2010:

Razen has been started under saddle and he is SO MUCH FUN to ride!!!  We brought him out with Papa Wheely and tooled around the ring at all three gaits.  He's forward and easy, and really, really enjoys working.  This young man is going to be a great horse for pleasure riding and the occassional more technical endevors.  He should do fine for light jumping and performance work--lower level dressage anyone?

We feel so lucky to have Razen, and know that the right person is going to come along and snatch him up.  In the mean time, we plan on enjoying this happy, sweet tempered boy to the fullest!!

Update December 8, 2010

Brazen was my favorite of the group he came down in, and now he has moved on to become a favorite to Sophie in South Carolina. In his new world, he is on his way to his new career as a therapy horse for autistic and other special needs people who benefit from the strength, positive energy, and inspiration that horses provoke in all of us.
