Richie has a home!!  She will be joining her stablemates Free to Sweep, Sidewinder, and Strasse (who is the black four year old who found a home with only a mention) in California!  We're excited to keep her (and Strasse and Free to Sweep) around for continued training for a couple extra months before sending her cross country!

Can you call her cute?  So we were a little misinformed on the number of socks--she has only three, but that's just fine.  Richie is as sweet as she is cute, and is absolutely up for anything.  She stood like a pro for the farrier earlier this week (like she'd always had her feet done on crossties instead of against the wall in her stall at the track), and when we prepped her for her pictures, April was grooming, trimming legs, and cleaning up chin whiskers while I braided...  And she never moved a bit.

Richie comes to us from Sidewinder's connections and has been meticuliously cared for.  She has cyro-freeze marks on her legs that were put there as a means of "counter-irritation" a race track philosophy that has been abandoned by most but by is still felt by the remaining practicers to be a good way to increase blood flow into an area that needs it to help thwart or heal an injury.  She doesn't show much wear and tear from her racing, and our guess is that it was more preventative than done in the hopes of healing. 

Richie will start under saddle this week, and we're confident that we have a real gem here in her.  She seems to love everyone she meets, loves being out with her best buddy Sweeps (she too, comes from Sidewinder's trainer), and is a total chow hound at meal times.

Call Richie is soon to be here at the farm in Woodstock.  She comes from one of our favorite trainers who reports that she's a kind mare with a nice temperament.  She has a blaze and four white anklets and is said to be very striking.

She's been a good worker while at the track, but has failed to accomplish enough to justify a continued racing career.  We're excited to have this pretty girl join us, and plan on posting pictures as soon as she arrives!
