Did someone say "all-around"? They must have been talking about Merlin! He came to us from FLTAP in June and has been a joy to have at the farm. He can turn on the charm and really strut his stuff for an experienced rider and can also be as quiet as a lamb for a beginner. He really judges his rider's skill and performs accordingly.
Merlin was returned to FLTAP earlier this year when his first adopter could no longer keep him. With her and her family, he gathered extensive trail experience. Since coming to us, we've been avoiding the heat of the trailer, and haven't yet made it to the trail, but we've seen his willing nature shine through in the ring and think he's going to be great no matter what his new job is.
He retired from a successful racing career with slight changes in his ankles that haven't given him any trouble while with us. He works two to four days a week in our (very hard) ring, and comes in with tight and cold legs every time. Merlin has no vices, and is very easy to handle. He's great for the farrier, loves to be groomed, and is up for just about anything.
Update: September 14, 2010
Merlin is very happy with his new mom in North Georgia. She has great plans for him first and foremost as a pleasure horse, but is also enjoying a bit of jumping just for fun. We are thrilled he's found a new soulmate, and are so happy that Cyrena and Merlin's first mom Judy have been put in touch! We'll keep you posted!
