Story and his friends arrived about a week and a half ago, and all have settled in well. He's a charming young guy with a great personality. He was initially very quiet, but has become our dinner bell of late. He knows what entry to the feed room at three pm means now, and he's the first to let his barn mates know that dinner is on the way.
Storyy is wonderful to work around, and is quiet about everything. We had his racing plates pulled off of his hind feet two days after he arrived, and he was fantastic during that task. We left his front plates on a little longer since they were glued on. He's lost a lot of foot from too-regular reshoeings and will be getting a new pair of glue on's this week. Being barefoot on our hot, hard, dry ground has not made his feet all that happy, so he'll be getting a new pair of back shoes this week, too. He seems to have nice hooves in spite of it all, we know, though, that racing can be very hard on horses' feet, and that time and good farrier work are usually all that are needed to put things back to right.
We did sneak in one ride just after pulling those hind shoes, and he was amazing. Bethany says that he has the most comfortable canter ever, and that his trot is soft enough to teach any beginner. With his phenomonal temperament and nice gaits, we're pretty sure that Story is a kids' horse in the making!

How cute is this guy? He comes to us from Fingerlakes, and with his cute white blaze and big white socks, we know that he's going to be almost every little girl's dream come true. Stacy tells us that he's kind and sweet and very easy to have around. We hope to have him here in Georgia in the next week to ten days... Photos of him standing still soon to follow!
