Hardee is such fun to ride!  He's been on his first trail ride and absolutely loved it!  I hadn't ridden him yet, and decided last Saturday that my first ride would be in the woods.  He did everything I asked (which wasn't much other than walk on the buckle, trot politely, and canter and gallop without losing his head), and I could not be more impressed!!!  He went over a bridge, through water, and past everthing from runners to baby carriges while we were at Kennesaw, and he never batted an eye.

Hardee has a work ethic typical of most career racers--he comes out expecting to really apply himself and hasn't quite figured out that he's on easy street yet.  He is ready for whatever he's asked, and is learning that he doesn't have to work as hard as he thinks.  He works well in all gaits, and though a bit strong in the bridle, he's easy to keep in hand and uncomplicated to ride.

Hardee has recently been body clipped and is even more beautiful than ever!  He all but glows in the dark, and his tail is so white that it's almost transparent at the bottom.  The nice thing about Hardee, though, is that his beauty goes much farther than only skin deep!

Our much awaited handsome grey gentleman has finally arrived!  Hardee got to come south a little sooner than we anticipated, and we're so excited!!  He is beautiful, kind, and ready to go to work!  He's still in racing shape, but will finish settling down to a life of leisure in no time!

Hardee has beautiful feet, cold, tight legs, and the most fantastic attitude about everything.  We took him out for his pictures not even twenty four hours off the van, and he posed like a conformation horse who'd been doing it his whole life!  He jogged on the line and never once offered to do a thing out of place--that almost never happens, even when a horse has been off the track for months.

We plan on giving him some time to settle in this week, pulling off his racing plates, adding a little turnout to the mix, and then getting started with his retraining.  I cannot wait to see him go under saddle!!!
