News of Note...

Fresh Faces

February 18, 2012

Next weekend will bring us some new faces at A Pinch of Luck...  For (almost) certain, three red-headed geldings, ages three, four, and five will be joining us at the farm.  It seems we've been inundated with bays over the last several months, so I'm hopeful that these handsome chestnuts will all be quick to find new homes.  All are sound  and ready to be started down the road to their new careers.  From what I'm told, they're also well mannered, easy to work around, and good citizens with other horses.

Also heading our way are two broodmares, ages ten and twelve. Both of these girls seem to be nicely made, and though in need of some groceries and TLC (check out those tails!  EEEEK!), should have no trouble becoming great partners for a new person.  Funicello is a twelve year old mare by the stallion Anet out of a mare called Empty Nest.  Notable names in her pedigree are:  Bold Ruler, Pincequillo, Native Dancer, and Nashrullah.  She is the dam of  five foals, four of whom raced.  She herself is a starter in only two races, and an earner of a grand total of  zero dollars.  Gentle Ridge is a ten year old mare by the stallion Bertrando out of the mare Rippling Ridge.  Her breeding is similar to that of Funicello, with the same notable names in her lineage.  She is the dam of two foals, both of whom made it to the track.  She herself had seventeen starts and earned just over $12,000.

Retiring mothers seem to have a much smaller fan club than the younger geldings and mares--if either of them catches your eye, please get in touch with me directly ASAP. We are limited on space at the farm, and though I would love to help each and every horse that needs a hand, horses with recent riding experience tend to be much easier to place into homes.  That being said, I'd love to help these ladies move into the next chapter of their lives, and if you think that you may be able to offer one or both of them a home, please give me a call.

                                                                                     ----------------------

Switching gears to the current residents of the farm, Overlord (Tanner) has some sexy new pictures posted on his page...  He's returned to work after recovering from a kick, and is ready once again to interview for his new family.  This fun, feel-good gelding is easy to work around and has a fantastic personality.  He's smart and has a sense of humor--and is ready to go work in any direction.

Young Crispin is still here with us at the farm, and is also eager to have a new family.  He's still reveling in the life of an unemployed two year old, and is the pesky little brother to his regular pasture crew.  He's bright and endearing, and will be the perfect project for anyone wanting an easy baby to start on their own.

El Muneco (Echo) has had several very interested visitors, and has one family pretty much won over.  We're waiting for the final word, but are hopeful that he, too, will soon join the list of Graduates of 2012--that all said, don't be afraid to inquire...
