When our trainer Kimberly brought Parker out to try him, she made the discovery that he's more than likely a retired Showmanship horse. He knows his patterns like the back of his hoof, is a quiet as a church mouse under saddle, and is a dream to ride! Best of all he relishes working, and after the first time he was ridden, he became a whole new horse--he puffed up, put on his happy ears, and was looking for more!
Kimberly loved him so much, first she told me we need to clone him, and then she decided he needed to be hers for her growing lesson program!
Congratulations to Kimberly, and yay for all of us at A Pinch of Luck! Parker's going to stay with us!! What a treat to keep this sweet, gentle giant right here in the family!!

Parker, like Ishka, doesn't really fit the description of the neighborhood, but he, too, deserved a much happier ever after than what a ride to a dead end auction offered him.
Reportedly, Parker has worn many hats in his eighteen years: that of dressage partner, local hunter on the flat competitor, babysitter for the grandkids, and pony horse. He's been around the block a time or two, and is an unflappable steady-eddie kind of guy with a lot to offer a rider needing more experience than one of our greenies off the track.
Parker is presently babysitting our newest baby boy, Moon Blind, and appears to take this role very seriously. They spend their evenings out on the grass together, and to date Parker has protected baby Stripes from the mean girls that share their playground.
Parker came to us badly in need of shoes, which he is now happily sporting. He's moving comfortably and should have his first ride sometime in the coming week. Parker does all of the things a horse his age should, and is great for grooming, batheing, tying, shoeing, and shipping. We're pretty sure that work under tack will be the same way.
Stay tuned for more information about Parker as we get to know him a little better!
