Shining Bull

Shining Bull
16.0 Hand Bay Gelding
Foal of 2003

Bully joins us from Cathedral Lodge's connections at Fingerlakes.  We are SO excited to have him here.  I got to meet him on my trip to the track in November, and have had my fingers crossed that he'd be ready to retire at the end of the season.  Woohoo!  He was!

Bully has a fantastic personality and is curious about everything.  He watches what goes on at the barn, and is a very social dude.  He's friendly and absolutely an "in your pocket" personality.

Bully, who is a son of the famous race horse Holy Bull, retired from a successful racing career in great shape.  His legs show only minor wear and tear from his sixty three race career.  He retired with just shy of $140,000, and was a wonderful addition to his trainer's barn--because of his efforts on the track, and because of his endearing personality!  We know they're missing his cute face in the shed row!

This handsome guy is easy to work around and loves attention.  He stands quietly in cross ties, is good for grooming, and has no vices.  He will probably enjoy having a vacation during the winter months to let down from his days at the track, but something tells me he'll get bored quick!  Maybe a compromise of a little work and a lot of down time will suit him better!!!

Bully is back to work and loving it.  He is uncomplicated and really enjoys having a job again.  On his first ride, he was eventually joined by about ten other horses and never so much as turned an ear.  Nothing like trying on a mock-show ring on his first civillian ride.  Question asked and answered...  he's great in company.

We've taken him over a few small fences and he was willing and sought them out once he figured out they are out there to be jumped.

Bully was great when we had his new shoes put on and continues to be a treat to work around in the barn.  He has a fan club of young riders that's growing--Allie of Brooklyn Betty fame fell in love with him and Gerada's Song!
