16 Hand Gray Gelding
Foal of 2003

Indy is a seven year old gelding with a fantastic personality.  He's been with us a few weeks now, and is working well under saddle.  He has had some retraining before coming to us--he came our way from Florida on "The Truck," and is reported to have been used as a lesson horse in his recent past.  He retired from racing last year, and shows very little wear and tear from his first career.

Indy is presently being ridden by teen age riders from fourteen to eighteen years of age.  He's a willing worker, and doesn't seem to pull any punches.  He's eager over fences, and though he sometimes is unsure, is quite happy to do his best to accomodate his rider.

We recently took Indy out on his first trail ride since arriving at A Pinch of Luck.  He was fantastic, and is no novice to the trail!  He went first over the bridge, through the water, saw deer, baby carriages, dogs, joggers, and lots of traffic when we crossed the road.  He was patient, brave, and absolutely willing.  We galloped a long stretch and he never offered to change his pace, even when passed.  He stood quietly on the trailer, and loaded well both at the farm and when we were heading home.  He was an absolute angel!

Our farrier loves him--he asked me after doing his feet if this is one we were keeping.  I asked why, and he replied, "because he's SO EASY to work on!"  I had to laugh.  Indy's like that about everything.

He is ready to go to do anything asked of him.  His only flaw is his cribbing habit--we decided to overlook it because he's such a beautiful boy, and has such a great outlook on life.

Update:  September 17, 2010

Indy is on his way to Columbus, GA with his new mom, Leni, who has great plans for him.  Leni is a barrel racer but found Indy when searching for a new project.  He is her first Thoroughbred, and she is thrilled at the prospect of being able to "write her own ticket" with him--she doesn't know what direction they're going to take, but I am sure that the ride will be fun!  Leni has a great support network, and Indy has a great new home.  Together they are going to be great!!
